The European Association of Aerial Surveying Industries (EAASI) is delighted to announce the appointment of Vijay Vellaichamy from Bluesky International as the newest Young Ambassador for the Association.

Vijay's journey reflects a strong academic foundation and a clear passion for leveraging geospatial technologies. Based in the United Kingdom, Vijay joined Bluesky in June 2023. He holds a Master’s degree in Geographical Information Science from the University of Leicester and is driven by a strong desire to create a measurable impact through geospatial technologies.
Since joining Bluesky International in June 2023, Vijay, as a GIS Analyst, has played a key role in the research and development of national datasets, including the National Hedgerow Map™ (NHM™), National Tree Map™ (NTM™), and Urban Change Detection (mapping urban creep and crawl). He has also contributed to products based on the 3+-30+-300 framework and advanced building and parcel intelligence initiatives.
Vijay shares, “I never knew the world was so beautiful from the sky — until I saw my first aerial image. What excites me most in my role is the opportunity to bring innovation to geospatial product development and transform high-resolution aerial imagery into meaningful, usable datasets that solve real-world challenges and create a measurable impact.”
As a Young Ambassador, Vijay will share his experiences, engage with students and early-career professionals, and help showcase the diverse, exciting career paths within aerial surveying. His appointment strengthens EAASI’s mission to promote the sector and encourage more young talent to explore its possibilities.
EAASI encourages all member companies to nominate candidates for the Young Ambassador Program, helping to shape a vibrant and innovative future for our industry.
