A new Regional Membership connects Europe’s aerial surveying industry with one of the field’s most established international organisations.

The European Association of Aerial Surveying Industries (EAASI) has become a Regional Member of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS). ISPRS confirmed the admission on 23 October 2026.

A recognised name in the field

Founded in 1910, ISPRS is one of the leading international organisations for photogrammetry, remote sensing and spatial information science. Its community spans researchers, institutions and professionals worldwide. Being accepted as a member places EAASI alongside this community and strengthens its voice beyond Europe.

What it means for EAASI and its members

For EAASI, the membership is a recognition of the association’s work and a new route to international contacts. The association expects it to help grow its network and bring benefits to its members, who operate across the whole of Europe’s aerial survey sector.

“Joining ISPRS is a significant step for EAASI. It connects our members with a respected international community and opens new opportunities for collaboration”, said Marcos Martínez-Fernández, EAASI Secretary General.

An early opportunity at the Summit

The first chance for members to hear about the new relationship will be at the EAASI Partners Summit 2026, in Alicante from 17 to 20 November. Prof. Lena Halounová, Past President of ISPRS, will take part as a keynote speaker. She presents “Artificial Intelligence in Remote Sensing: Its Positive and Negative Characteristics” on Thursday, 19 November.

Prof. Halounová, a professor at the Czech Technical University in Prague, served as ISPRS President from 2022 to 2026, after earlier roles that included Secretary General and Director of the 2016 ISPRS Congress.

About ISPRS

The International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) is a non-governmental international organization devoted to advancing international cooperation in photogrammetry, remote sensing, and the spatial information sciences. Founded in Vienna in 1910, ISPRS promotes research, development, education, training, standards, and the responsible application of geospatial technologies for the benefit of humanity and environmental sustainability. Its activities include technical commissions and working groups, international congresses and symposia, scientific publications, and collaboration with related geospatial organizations.

About EAASI

The European Association of Aerial Surveying Industries (EAASI) represents companies and independent consultants involved in generating geodata from crewed airborne platforms. Based in Belgium, EAASI promotes a sustainable market for geoinformation, professional standards, quality and safety requirements, workforce development, and the strategic role of aerial survey data in digitalisation and information systems. EAASI is now a member of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS), strengthening the connection between Europe’s aerial surveying industry and the international photogrammetry, remote sensing, and spatial information science community
