The European Association of Aerial Surveying Industries (EAASI) is delighted to announce that Phase One has become the first Observer to formally transition into Member status, following recent amendments to the Association’s Statutes.
The update, approved by the EAASI General Assembly during the 6th Annual General Meeting in June 2025, expands full membership eligibility to companies that design, manufacture, and commercialize the essential technology underpinning aerial surveying. This change reflects the feedback received during the 2024 EAASI Summit, where many partners emphasized the value of giving technology providers a stronger role within the Association’s structure.
With this step, Phase One—renowned worldwide for its advanced cameras and imaging solutions—underscores the critical contribution of sensor manufacturers to Europe’s aerial surveying industry.
Dr. Mohsen Miri, Director of Global Strategic Partnerships at Phase One, commented:
“By joining EAASI as a member, Phase One underscores its commitment to a collaborative ecosystem, together with end-users, partners, and solution providers, to advancing the airborne surveying industry. In this growing and challenging market, we strongly believe in innovative competition in technology, but more in collaborative completion in solutions. We trust in an aligned vision, but more in engagement to fulfil our mission. By transiting from a collaborative‘Observer’ status to an active ‘Member’, it is our pleasure to accompany the EAASI community in our common journey in the aerial imagery, from Pixels to Perception!”
Marcos Martínez-Fernández, EAASI Secretary General, welcomed the decision: “Phase One’s transition to full membership is a milestone for EAASI. It shows how the association is evolving to reflect the entire aerial surveying ecosystem. Having technology providers as active members will strengthen our capacity to innovate and collaborate across the value chain.”

Phase One’s move sets an important precedent for other Observers who now meet the updated membership criteria. EAASI warmly encourages them to consider applying for Member status and to take part in shaping the industry’s future.
As EAASI President Florian Romanowski noted when the new statutes were adopted, these changes aim to “make the Association more inclusive, representative, and future-ready.” The first successful transition demonstrates how industry voices have been heard and acted upon.
