On Monday, 2 June 2025, EAASI held its 6th Annual General Meeting, bringing together members from across Europe to review the association’s progress and chart its path forward. With the required quorum reached, the Assembly successfully approved key amendments to the EAASI Statutes, endorsed the 2024 Annual Accounts, and welcomed several important governance updates.
The EAASI President, Florian Romanowski, opened the meeting by welcoming the attendees and sharing reflections on the association's trajectory over the past six years, looking at both its current status and future outlook.
Approved Statutory Changes: Broadening Eligibility and Enhancing Governance
Responding to member feedback collected during the 2024 EAASI Summit in Athens, the General Assembly voted in favor of proposed modifications to Articles 5 and 11 of the EAASI Statutes.
Article 5 now expands full membership eligibility to include companies that develop, manufacture, and commercialize essential technology for aerial surveying (e.g., airborne LiDAR systems, cameras, and other sensors), alongside operators of crewed airborne platforms. This recognises the critical role of hardware developers in the aerial surveying ecosystem.
Article 11 introduces a maximum number of Board members (11), ensuring the Board remains agile and effective while continuing to reflect the diversity of EAASI’s membership.
Both changes uphold EAASI’s commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and responsible governance.

Financial and Strategic Highlights
The 2024 Annual Accounts were presented by EAASI Treasurer Rachel Tidmarsh and unanimously approved, alongside a decision to adjust the annual members' subscription fees for 2026.
In addition, the Annual Activity Report was delivered by EAASI Secretary General Marcos Martínez-Fernández, summarizing achievements in outreach, advocacy, and industry committees.
New Committee: European Engagement and Action
A new European Engagement and Action Committee has been established to enhance EAASI’s impact on the EU policy and funding landscape. Chaired by Board Member Simon Musäus, the Committee will:
Monitor and pursue funding opportunities and collaborative projects at the European level;
Develop political engagement strategies to influence regulations and budget decisions relevant to the aerial surveying market.
Foster partnerships with EU-level institutions and geospatial associations.
This new initiative reinforces EAASI’s strategic focus on expanding its voice in Brussels and aligning with European green, digital, and infrastructure goals.
To support this, the University and Students Engagement Committee will now be led by Patrik Meixner, allowing Simon Musäus, to dedicate his efforts to this new priority area.
